SOFTWARE- AVG Anti-Spyware (click to download/install)

What used to be known as EWIDO (visit website here).  This program is made by the same people that produce the AVG Antivirus. Although I prefer and recommend AVAST antivirus over the AVG version for reasons such as user friendliness, this program will quite often find spyware items that both spybot search and destroy and ad-aware miss.  This being said however, I find this program to be a little too intrusive for me when it is first installed. As I prefer to keep my system optimized and running fast, I do not believe I need to have many spyware programs constantly monitoring my computer, especially if I am running these scans at the end of each computer day. Therefore what I suggest is after you have installed this program. Right click on the icon that is placed on the systemtray and de-select the option to have it "start on windows startup' . As well, I would de-select the two resident scanners and simply utilize the "update" each time I run the program.  Once you close the program, it will prompt you as you are closing it, this is where I select the check-box so that it does not prompt me any further when I do close the program. Once you have done this, and you have right clicked on the systemtray icon and 'exited' it, as well, checking the checkbox to not prompt you about this any further. You should be able to simply click on the icon from the desktop to start the program. Then click on CHECK FOR UPDATES to make sure you have the latest definitions and then perform a full scan.
